The Guangxi Science and Technology Museum

We visited a local science museum this morning.  It was good for the kids to have some hands on activities to do outside of the hotel.  Afterwards, we ate McDonald's then came back to the hotel to hang out all afternoon before going to KFC for dinner.  It's been a great family day.

We have heard Samantha speak and sing a lot of Chinese today.  I love it.  She talks to Kyle in Chinese and he talks to her in English.  It is the neatest thing.  They may not always understand each other but they have had so much fun playing and laughing together.  He has taught her how to jump on the couch, jump from one bed to the other, run around, and play angry birds!  Even when they were each doing their own thing, they were so happy and speaking/singing in their own language.  Samantha told me in Chinese what a bunch of pictures were in a book.  We played a CD of Chinese nursery rhymes that we brought with us and she danced a lot.  I must say, she has some moves!  My favorite is when she put one hand on her hip, the other arm out straight with a pointed finger, shaking her hip and her head.  I would say I see dance classes in her future, but she may not need any!

Kyle has been such a tremendous help.  When we have needed Samantha to do something and she didn't want to (like brush her teeth), we have Kyle show her how and then she will do it.  She likes to imitate him.  He drew a picture and she wanted hers just like his.  She will eat anything.  Everything we have had, she has wanted a bite of.  She ate a pickle slice without any problem, had chicken nuggets, french fries, and ice cream this evening.  A couple of funny stories involve going to the bathroom.  Most Chinese toilets are holes in the ground and they squat over them and don't typically have toilet paper.  I figured out during our breakfast that she needed to use the bathroom.  She took a small napkin from the table to the bathroom to use as toilet paper.  When we were at the museum she looked in every stall for a Western toilet instead of their squatty pottys.  I had toilet paper in my purse I was going to use and she wanted it for herself.  I think she has gotten used to our way of living already.  She knows the word "No", "Bye Bye", and "Thank you".

Tomorrow we get Samantha's Visa for travel then visit a local park.  Friday morning we head to Guangzhou to begin the American paperwork process.

Hope you all enjoy the new pix.

Have a great day!

Missy
